HALF THE BATTLE

About

An open community for families to share information and ideas for the purpose of furthering education and awareness relating to substance abuse, mental health, addiction, and treatment.

Description

Substance abuse, namely that of pharmaceuticals, has reached epidemic proportion. Today, even non-using kids can tell you that their school has a drug dealer, oftentimes one for every group of kids; the popular crowd, the jocks, the geeks, the loners, and the users themselves. But increasing evidence shows that parents and grandparents have become unknowing “dealers.” Home medicine cabinets have become the sinister "dark alleys" for curious teens and full-fledged addicts. The Internet is satiated with websites devoted to drug awareness; Facebook and other social media have Pages and Groups dedicated to personal and corporate campaigns.

The mission of Half the Battle, together with postings of your experiences and insight, is to provide information and ideas related to behavioral health, substance abuse, addiction, and treatment options primarily, but not limited to, the North Texas area.

Abuse does not discriminate by age, race, sex, or socioeconomic bounds. Awareness and acceptance of the magnitude and complexity of drug abuse is HALF THE BATTLE. A compassionate awareness free of judgment and guilt can pave the way for healing and reform ... one person, one post, one tweet, one day at a time.
